Grammy-winning singer Tori Kelly is in the hospital being treated for blood clots in her legs and lungs, according to a report.
The 30-year-old singer was reportedly out to dinner in Los Angeles on Sunday night when she began experiencing heart palpitations and passed out. She was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where doctors discovered the blood clots.
A source told TMZ that Kelly’s condition is “really serious” and that she has been in and out of consciousness. The source added that doctors are still working to determine if there are any clots around her heart.
Blood clots can be a serious medical condition, and they can be life-threatening if they break loose and travel to the lungs. Symptoms of blood clots can include pain, swelling, redness, and warmth in the affected area. Other symptoms can include shortness of breath, chest pain, and coughing up blood.
The exact cause of blood clots is not always known, but there are a number of risk factors, including long periods of immobility, smoking, obesity, and certain medications.
Kelly’s hospitalization comes just days before the release of her new EP, Tori. The EP is set to be released on Friday, July 28.
Kelly’s fans have been sending her messages of support on social media. Many have expressed their concern for her health and wished her a speedy recovery.
“Praying for Tori Kelly,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “She’s such a talented artist and I hope she gets well soon.”
