Bill Geddie, the television producer who co-founded ABC’s “The View” with Barbara Walters and served as its executive producer for 17 seasons, died Thursday, his family announced. He was 68.
Geddie’s death was attributed to “coronary-related factors,” his family said in a statement. He died at his home in Rancho Mirage, California.

Geddie was born in Texas in 1955. He began his career in television as a production assistant on the PBS show “The Great American Dream Machine.” He later worked as a producer on “Good Morning America” and “20/20.”
In 1997, Geddie co-created “The View” with Walters. The show, which featured a panel of women discussing current events and pop culture, quickly became a ratings hit. Geddie served as executive producer of “The View” for its first 17 seasons.

“Bill was a brilliant producer and a wonderful friend,” Walters said in a statement. “He was the creative force behind ‘The View,’ and he helped make it the success that it is today. I will miss him dearly.”
In addition to “The View,” Geddie also produced many of Walters’ specials, including her iconic “Most Fascinating People” presentations. He was also an Emmy-winning producer for “Good Morning America.”
Geddie is survived by his wife, Barbara, and their two daughters, Lauren and Allison.
