Spain and the Netherlands put on a show for the ages in their Women’s World Cup quarterfinal on Friday, with Spain eventually prevailing 2-1 in extra time to reach the semifinals.

The match was a back-and-forth affair from start to finish, with both teams creating chances. The Netherlands had the better of the first half, but Spain came out stronger after the break and took the lead in the 60th minute through Aitana Bonmati.
The Dutch equalized in the 78th minute through Lieke Martens, but Spain responded with a winner in the 107th minute from Marta Cardona.
