“I was under the impression that we were going to be a team that was going to compete in 2024,” Scherzer said. “But I guess the vision has changed a little bit.”
Scherzer’s comments come after the Mets have made a number of moves that suggest they are looking to the future. In addition to trading Scherzer, the Mets have also traded away Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco.
