FC Cincinnati Defeats Chivas de Guadalajara in Resumed Leagues Cup Match


Brandon Vazquez scored a hat trick for FC Cincinnati, with two goals coming within the first ten minutes of the match. The first goal came in the 5th minute, when Vazquez headed in a cross from Luciano Acosta. The second goal came in the 9th minute, when Vazquez scored on a penalty kick after being fouled in the box.


Chivas de Guadalajara got on the board in the 27th minute, when Alexis Vega scored on a header. However, FC Cincinnati responded with two more goals in the second half, both scored by Vazquez. The first goal came in the 57th minute, and the second goal came in the 82nd minute.

The match was played behind closed doors due to the tight turnaround between the postponement and the resumption. However, the match was still available to stream on MLS Season Pass.

The win gives FC Cincinnati a 2-0 record in Leagues Cup play. They will next face Club AmΓ©rica on August 10.
