The Gunners took the lead in the 25th minute through Eddie Nketiah, but Monaco equalized in the 53rd minute through Enzo Fofana. Neither team was able to find a winner in regulation time or extra time, so the match went to penalties.

Arsenal were perfect from the spot, scoring all five of their penalties. Monaco missed two of their penalties, and Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale saved the third.
